Making a decision to work with Kambo is a powerful step towards transforming your life.
Sitting with Kambo takes a lot of courage. You are asked to show up as your whole authentic self and be fully present with the often intense treatment. The Kambo spirit works both with you and within you. You are called to be an active participant in your healing process. It will work as hard as you do and will take you as deep as you are ready and willing to go.
Once the decision is made to work with Kambo, physical and mental sensations and realizations may start to come to your awareness. Most people will be brought face to face with many of their deep rooted patterns and fears, not only during their Kambo treatments, but in the days leading up to your ceremony as well. It's a great idea to set intentions and allow yourself to explore what's coming through before your ceremony with journaling, meditation, contemplation and time in nature.
It is essential that you have read the list of contraindications and disclosed to us any known conditions and medications prior to receiving Kambo. The experience is not necessarily taxing, though it does require some physical stamina.
Kambo Clarity takes pride in the Kambo that is used for your ceremony. The Kambo we administer is always completely pure, responsibly and ethically sourced and of the highest quality.
Prior to a Kambo session, participants are required to fast from food and water for 12 hours.
Kambo treatments are held in a “circle”, which is a space set up for the process of clearing physical and emotional blocks during your ceremony. We take great care to ensure the Kambo circle is safe, welcoming, clean, and energetically balanced.
Kambo ceremonies may be held in a 1-on-1 or group setting. Before we start, each participant will have a private consultation regarding their treatment and intentions, and there will be time to answer any questions you might have. We will develop a specific treatment based on your intention, goals, physical/emotional condition and previous experience with Kambo. The ceremony will start with meditation and intention-setting to open the space, focus the mind, ground into the process and tap into a healing energy.
In the 15 minutes leading up to the application of Kambo you will drink around 1.5 liters of water. The water will aid in the purging process. When it is time to receive Kambo, a series of small superficial burns (the size of the tip of an incense stick; about 3-5mm in diameter) will be made on your skin. These small burns will be gently opened using tissue, a process referred to as “opening the gates”.
The purpose of these burns is to allow the medicine direct access to your lymphatic system. Only the surface layer of skin is removed and there will be no blood. The location of these burns will be based on the type of treatment and specific intentions, with consideration for aesthetics, tattoos, and scars. The burning process is quick, just a split second per point, and pain is minimal.
At this point in your treatment we prepare the Kambo by adding water to the dried frog secretion, which is then scraped and formed into around 5 mm balls, known as Kambo dots or points. If it is your 1st Kambo treatment, or you’ve had Kambo before, but have taken some time between sessions, you will receive a test point. A single Kambo dot is placed on one of the gates and your reaction will be observed with careful attention given to your breathing, heart rate, blood pressure and skin reaction. Assuming the test point goes well, your remaining points will be added.
Once the Kambo is in place the effects are usually felt very quickly. You may experience a pounding sensation in the heart or head, increased heart rate, flushing of the skin and/or swelling in the face, tingling or numbness, inflammation in the throat, increased or lowered blood pressure, nausea, or stomach discomfort. The effects of Kambo are usually only felt between 20-40 minutes and the most difficult part of the session usually lasts around 10 or 15 minutes. It is very common to purge during this time as the body is being cleared of its physical and emotional toxins.
After around 20 minutes, if you have purged and the effects are subsiding, we will remove the Kambo and apply Dragon's Blood to the burns. Dragon's Blood (Sangre de Drago) is a natural antiseptic and analgesic liquid that aids in the healing of the burn points and reduces scarring. Burn points usually are not visible after a few months.
After the Dragon's Blood is applied you will rest and have some time to be with yourself, your intentions and any feelings that have come up. This is usually when most will experience a heightened sense of clarity, memory, and peace. Many people report very important Source downloads and deep understanding coming to their awareness during this time. For some people the sense of clarity comes later and/or will continue over the next few days.
After you have rested for around 30 minutes you may be ready to eat. It is important to provide yourself with nourishment after big physical processing, mental shifts and energy movement. Carefully sourced and prepared food works to help rebalance and restore electrolytes in the body after Kambo sessions.
After the rest and replenish periods, it is likely that the effects you felt during your ceremony will diminish and your body will recalibrate quickly, but it is still possible to experience some additional purging through sweat, tears, vomit, or the bowels. Some have even reported feeling extra energy after a Kambo ceremony. You should be able to move throughout the rest of your day as you would normally, with attention paid to allowing yourself time and space for integration.

“Kambo circulates in the heart. Our shaman said that when we take Kambo it makes the heart move accurately, so that things flow, bringing good things to the person. It is as if there was a cloud on the person, preventing the good things to come, then, when they take the Kambo; it gives a ‘green light’ which opens their ways, making things easier.”
— from “Kambo, The Spirit of the Shaman” by Professor Marcelo Bolshaw Gomes
